Sensation, phenomenon, superstar in the making - these are only a few synonyms that have been used to describe 2004 Olympic gold medallist Yuriorkis Gamboa from Cuba. It's no surprise that most experts and fans agree that the 25-year-old Cuban is one of the hottest prospects in the sport today.

In only thirteen months "El Ciclon de Guantanamo" has literally blown away 10 high-class opponents with a combined record of 325 wins and only 31 losses capturing the NABF championship and the WBC international champion title.
After his last performance - a 10-round whipping of experienced Darling Jimenez which Gamboa won by unanimous decision - HBO expert and former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis compared Gamboa with the young Roy Jones, jr.

29-year-old Richard Gutierrez has proved more than once that he can become a dominating force in the light middleweight division. Powerful punches, great heart and exciting performances are the trademark of the Colombian who fights out of Miami.

Both Gutierrez and Gamboa return to the "Star of the Desert Arena" at Terrible's Casino Resort in Primm, Nevada after great fights on May 17th.

ESPN Friday Night Fights in Miami

Yan Barthelemy main event on June 27th at War Memorial Auditorium in Miami

It should have been the first big night of all three Cuban Olympic gold medallists Odlanier Solis, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy in the USA. Because two of them won't make it - Solis was denied visa and Gamboa's fight against WBA #2 rated Jose Rojas has been postponed - the third one has the chance to shine even brighter.

For the first time Yan Barthelemy will be the featured main event fighter at ESPN's Friday Night Fights. His opponent hasn't been named yet but Barthelemy couldn't care less.

"This is a great honour for me and my big chance as well" states Yan. "So far I got good critiques for my style and my technique but Solis and Gamboa are in the main focus of the public. Now I want to step out of their shadows and show the world that I am an exciting fighter as well."

There will be 7 action-packed fights in total. The show starts at 7pm (local time) and will be broadcasted LIVE by ESPN2.
