WBC heavyweight championship - Vitali Kitschko vs. Odlanier Solis

History in the making...

On March 19th, 2011, ARENA's Cuban heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis faces WBC world champion Vitali Klitschko at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany. Promoter Ahmet Oner is convinced that "La Sombra" will be the first man to stop the elder Klitschko brother. "Solis is about to make history. He will end the Klitschko era and start his own legacy", states Oner.

Regardless of the historical perspective fans and experts agree that the fight between Klitschko and Solis might be the first exciting heavyweight clash after years of boredom. The Cuban challenger is one of the most successful amateur boxers of all times winning four world amateur championships, six straight Cuban championships and Olympic gold in Athens 2004. "He has never lost a fight in any big tournament", adds Oner. "He has beaten legendary Felix Savon twice. On March 19th he will complete the circle and do at the pros what he has been doing at the amateurs for years: Prive that he is the best!"

In the pro ranks Solis has won all of his 17 fights including 12 stoppages. His opponent Vitali Klitschko has been the dominating force in the heavyweight scene for years. Since returning from a long injury break in October 2008 he beat up whoever crossed his way and established a "terror regimen" in the heavyweight division along with his younger brother Wladimir.

On March 19th, Odlanier Solis wants to end their reign and become the first ever Cuban world heavyweight champion in professional boxing. RTL will broadcast the show from the Lanxess Arena live in Germany, Epix is the broadcaster in the USA.

WBC Final Eliminator - Solis vs. Austin

Ahmet Öner and Don King present a great night of boxing on December 17th at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. In the main event of a card labelled as "A Tribute to Freedom" Cuban heavyweight sensation Odlanier Solis takes on "Rainman" Ray Austin in a WBC Final Elimination Bout. The winner of Solis vs. Austin will be the mandatory challenger for WBC champion Vitali Klitschko and get his title shot within 100 days after the Eliminator.

"This is the chance we have been waiting for", states promoter Ahmet Öner. "Solis is the man who will finally end the Klitschko's reign. His hand speed, technical ability, movement and power will be too much for both Austin and Vitali."

"Vitali Klitschko has done all he could to avoid fighting me over the last months", adds four-time amateur champion and Olympic gold medallist Solis. "When I beat Austin - which I will - he will have no place left to hide. I will do in the pros what I did as an amateur for years and years: Prove that I am the best boxer in the world."

In the co-feature unbeaten IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud will defend his title. On the undercard Ahmet Öner sends his German heavyweight prospect Erkan Teper into the ring. The 6'6'' tall former German amateur standout helps Solis preparing for Austin and is looking to impress the American fans in what would be his third win in as many pro-fights.

On September 11th ARENA's Cuban superstar Yuriorkis Gamboa returns to the ring when the reigning WBA featherweight champion faces IBF titlist Orlando Salido in a unification bout at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas featured on HBO .

"This is my next step on the way to become undisputed champion of the world", says Gamboa. "It's my goal to unify all world titles to prove that I am the best featherweight boxer today. Of course, I will not underestimate Salido. I know that it is not easy to become champion of the world. Still I know that I will beat him and go on to collect some more belts."

The title unification will be promoted by Top Rank in association with ARENA Sports-Promotion.
